star wars : clone wars!

i’ve rejoined the galactic forces with my return to the star wars universe and dark horse comics. many moons ago i enjoyed leaving my stamp in lucas’ world when i worked on the rpg in it’s various incarnations, whether it was through west end games or wizards of the coast.

the image below is the cover to dark horse’s star wars: the clone wars v2, Crash Course. the listing states fellow artist and studio mate scott hepburn (who is working on his own star wars book, which looks phenomenal!) as the books cover artist… LIES, ALL LIES!

enjoy…

return from san diego

last week i attended the san diego comic con. it amazes me how that show grows exponentially every year! i didn’t have a table, i simple wandered about and enjoyed the show, and spent quite a bit of time on the beach as well in an effort to give myself a bit of a holiday.

with my busy schedule of late i haven’t had a chance to doodle up much. so for now i thought i’d share the “tip-in” image from the hard cover edition of MACHINATIONS OF DOOM. the book is available through Palladium books, and pretty soon i plan to be carrying it on my website as well. as soon as i get that darned store set up!

machinations of doom

when i first started freelancing as an illustrator i began my career by doodling up pictures for roleplaying games. the bloke who gave me my first job was kevin siembieda of palladium books, creator of the rifts® universe! as my years progressed with palladium i proposed a comic idea for their quarterly publication the rifter®. he liked the idea and gave it the go ahead.

on may 4-6 i will be attending the palladium open house taking place at their offices in taylor michigan. i will be doing sketches, hocking bns swag and happily signing copies of the newly collected ‘machinations of doom’, a sourcebook collecting the comic from 7 years ago into one book.

the entire story has been relettered, i’ve touched up some of the pages and added a slew of original art into the sourcebook section where kevin has gone in and fleshed out the main cast based on my notes. i’ve also done a new cover for the collection and layed out the entire book myself. it’s been a busy month!

if you can’t make it out to the show the book will be available through better games and comic stores as well as barnes and noble.

revisiting some old friends

waaaay back in 1999 i wrote and illustrated a comic for palladium books set in their rpg world of rifts. i really fell in love with the characters i created for this story. so when i was recently asked to contribute a pinup for the rifter swimsuit special i decided to revist said characters with the sexy anika in the forefront. so fly out to your local store and pick up the official rifter swimsuit edition and check out the rest of the fabulous pinups by palladiums artistic entourage…

robots of the future!

…they shall replace the common man!

they don’t sleep!

they have no need for food!!

well, you get the idea.

here’s a cover image i did up for an insurance magazine a few months back, i figure it’s safe to reveal this new marvelous robotic design to the world now that the magazine has hit the stands!

ink me please…

here’s a sci-fi piece i did last year. it was a double page spread for an rpg title ex-machina, can’t recall who the publisher was. i just remember the deadline ended up getting shifted around and suddenly where i had a week left i had a day. with no time to ink i quickly laid in some tones digitally.

part of me wants to go back in and ink this puppy up. mebbe even slap in some colour.

sci-fun fun!

here’s a piece i did for palladium books last year some time. to be honest i can’t remember when - the year was mostly a blur. i wanted to do a piece for their recollection of one of their most popular games, RIFTS, but was severely lacking in time on my end. i found a moment and doodled this baby up. though not my strongest piece ever i find it has a nice energy about it. i was just me playing and having a good time with the subject. the piece was also an experiment of sorts, as it predates my work on spellgame, in that i wanted to see how well i could handling doing most of the rendering in the inks stage. something i’d always hesitated in doing before. nothin’ like jumping in with both feet!
